Mahindra have revised their electric vehicle (EV) charging policy, offering increased flexibility to customers purchasing the BE 6 and XUV 9e electric SUVs. Responding to customer feedback, Mahindra are now allowing buyers to opt out of the previously mandatory purchase and installation of company-certified chargers in specific scenarios.
Mahindra EV Charger Policy Revision Details
Initially, Mahindra required customers to purchase the brand’s own chargers, with costs ranging from Rs 50,000 for a 7.2kW charger to Rs 75,000 for an 11.2kW charger. However, the company has now introduced exceptions:
- Infrastructure Limitations: Customers without the necessary infrastructure for private charger installation can now forgo the company’s charger.
- Existing Compatible Chargers: If a customer already owns a charger that meets Mahindra’s safety standards, they are not required to buy a new one.
- Multiple Mahindra EVs: Households with multiple Mahindra EVs can share a single charging point, eliminating the need for multiple installations.
While Mahindra continues to recommend their certified chargers for optimal safety and efficiency, this updated policy empowers customers with greater choice and control over their charging solutions.
The revised policy coincides with the commencement of deliveries of the BE 6 and XUV 9e’s top variants this month.
