Aston Martin’s all-new Valkyrie hypercar is set to make its IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship debut this weekend at the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, one of North America’s most demanding endurance races. As the first Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) developed by Aston Martin, Valkyrie is the only IMSA GTP-class entry derived from a road-legal hypercar.

Developed in collaboration with THOR, the race-optimized Valkyrie features a carbon fibre chassis and a modified 6.5-litre V12 engine, limited to 680bhp per hypercar regulations. This marks Aston Martin’s return to the top tier of U.S. sports car racing for the first time since 2011.

Canadian Roman De Angelis and Briton Ross Gunn will compete in the #23 Valkyrie for the full IMSA season, with Alex Riberas (ESP) joining them at Sebring and Petit Le Mans. Gunn acknowledged the challenge ahead, calling Sebring a “huge test both physically and mentally” but expressed excitement about the Valkyrie’s V12 engine roaring around the iconic track.

This debut is part of a historic season for Aston Martin, as Valkyrie is the only LMH car competing in both IMSA and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
